Virginia Beach Travel Part 1

Finally, I was able to sit down and sift through thousands of photos (from both camera and phone) from our recent Virginia Beach Travel. No joke. It was hard going through thousands of photos and trying to divide them. Finally, I decided to divide the Virginia Beach trip into two posts (part 2 here), and then another one dedicated to Norfolk. I won’t add much text because I know the number of photos are already overwhelming and speak for themselves. I’ll just include info on where they were taken and other important details you may need if you plan to visit Virginia Beach. Oh, and of course, I have the outfit details for you too!

Virginia Beach Travel

Last Memorial Day weekend, we headed out to Virginia Beach on a last minute decision. We have been talking about the trip every now and then. But it was only about a week prior that we decided. Obviously, the oceanfront pet-friendly hotels that we liked were already fully booked. But because we really wanted to go on a vacation, we decided it would be okay to get a hotel somewhere close. A few minutes drive to the beach is fine since we won’t be staying in the beach all day. We settled on Norfolk. That’s why I’ll have a separate post about Norfolk after my two Virginia Beach Travel posts. Since this is the first of the series, I’ll make sure to update this later to include a link to the other two. So you’ll have more places to check if you’re planning to head to VA Beach in the future.

Pet-Friendly Beaches

One of the reasons we love to go to Virginia Beach is that they are CLEAN and they are pet-friendly!

Pets are allowed at the beaches in VA Beach. But during the peak season, they are only allowed at certain sections and times – before 9/10 am and after 6 pm. So while we were there, we always went early in the morning, around 6 am, to enjoy the beach with Louis. It was actually the best time to go. Because then, we get to enjoy the beach without the huge crowd. If we were early enough, we get to enjoy the sunrise too. Oh, and another bonus is it’s not super hot as compared to the afternoon temps. For exact times and dates, check out Visit Virginia’s website here.

The beaches are well maintained. Each morning we were there, they were always tidying up and raking the sand. There are a lot of trash cans spread throughout the beach. So you won’t see trash lying on the sand. There are also plenty of open showers and faucets for rinsing. The board walk is so nice. There’s also a bike trail. And of course, plenty of restaurants, hotels, and shops line up the board walk too.

I actually have more photos in an older post here. If you’ve been following me for awhile now, then you may recall we actually stayed in VA Beach for about 4 months for a work project. But we never got a chance to really enjoy and explore the city because we were there during winter time. And most of the holidays, we were always going home to our family in Maryland, being it just a 4-hour drive. So we really didn’t get a chance to explore Virginia Beach.

Travel Outfits

On the day of our travel, I already wore a swimsuit underneath this dress that doubled up as a beach coverup. So as soon as we checked in to our hotel, I was ready to hit the pool.

Favorite White Accessories: fave white tassel earrings; fave white watch c/o Fossil; fave white and blue striped bow slides; old white tassel necklace c/o Claudia G; Oh for Shore tote c/o Charming Charlie (currently on sale under $9).

P.S. Snag this pair of bow slides with a 20% off using code JULY4

P.S. This is not sponsored. It’s just the beer we ordered by the pool and we were trying out the Samsung Galaxy S8+ camera.

Bag, round towel, and makeup c/o IT Cosmetics. Tropical print pink swimsuit top; Denim cutoffs; Quay Australia sunglasses (also comes in pink/gold and blue/silver); Virginia Wolf NYC Wander Word Wrap in ALOHA print c/o; red tassel earrings that I made on sale at my Poshmark closet here.

Where We Ate and Highly Recommend: Waterman’s

Waterman’s is oceanfront dining with fresh seafood, super friendly wait staff, live music every Friday, and no cover. It’s a pretty obvious local favorite. But the line to wait at Waterman’s gets pretty long during peak season/holidays/summer. I think we waited 45 minutes and it was already past 9 pm when we got there. They have an app for the wait and they call/text you when you’re up. So it was okay. We hung outside and also killed time window-shopping at the boutique/store inside the restaurant. All is well. Oh, DON’T FORGET to order the Virginia Beach Special drink – Orange Crush. TRUST me. It is good!

Everything we ordered were delicious!

Please check part 2 of our Virginia Beach Travel here. Until next time, folks! Xo and Happy Fourth of July in case I couldn’t post anything tomorrow! I know you guys will be busy anyway! 🙂
