Today at STYLEanthropy, I’m sharing some tips on how to prepare your dog for vacation. If you’ve been following for awhile, you know that we almost ALWAYS take Louis with us everywhere we go. He’s our sweet baby and a part of our family. So as much as we can, we bring him with us to all our trips – just like the most recent staycation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh Cranberry. We always look for pet-friendly accommodations so he can come along. But how do we prepare him in terms of grooming? I’m sharing tips below.
How to Prepare Your Dog for Vacation
Not all establishments welcome pets. So when we find one that does, we try to be mindful of Louis’ behavior, appearance, and cleanliness. That’s why we make sure he’s all prepped up before we go.
- Brush your pet’s teeth. Keep his breath fresh, ready to say hi to other guests and hotel staff.
- Bring wipes or a shampoo spray mix to wipe or spray your pet after he/she goes out/do business. My shampoo spray mix is just about 2-3 pumps of shampoo on a spray bottle, and then I fill up the rest with water. Shake to mix and it’s ready for spraying!
- Bump it off brush to help with shedding. Recently, Goddess of Gadgets sent me their Bump It Off brush which is this silicone sleeve with two different sides. The brush can be used for multiple ways. It can be used for laundry, dishwashing, pets, and even to scrub the body or to clean your makeup brushes! I tried one on Louis and was surprised at how much hair it got! I won’t give you a close up in case you get grossed out easily. Haha. But here’s a blurred photo of the brush below. Amazing, right?
So after he’s gotten his vacation prep from Momma, he’s good to go. He even wore his palm print button down shirt to our recent trip, to match his mommy’s skirt! It was funny and cute at the same time.
