The Importance of Having Your Me Time

Have you ever planned or scheduled a “Me Time” date? A few years ago, I was stressed out from having a very busy schedule. It seemed like I accepted all blog work thrown at me and attended all blogging-related events I was invited to. I lost time for taking care of myself, even in the simplest of things. I no longer had the time to do my nails like I used to. And I used to do nail art for myself. No more pampering. Gone are the days of playing video games and watching my favorite TV shows. So two New Years ago, I told myself that one of the resolutions I’ll be making is to set a date for myself – a “Me Time” so to speak. Boy was I thankful for it.

What’s a Me Time?

Basically, it’s a date with yourself.  I’ve set a date on my calendar once each month to just enjoy, relax, pamper, and reward myself for all the hard work the previous month. Me, Myself, and I.

For me, it involves pampering with a bubble bath with candles, hair and face masks, foot spa, mani and pedi, and treating myself to what I want to eat and/or drink – like these OREO THINS I’ve been loving!

O.M.G. have you tried these OREO THINS?

If you love the regular OREOS, you are gonna love these. When I first tried them a few months ago, I was like, where have you been all my life? I’m not kidding! I even recommended it to family and friends. I know they are just a thinner version, but the size is a game changer! And the texture is crispier too. I’m not your regular sweets person, but I get the occasional craving from time to time. This size hits that “sweet” spot perfectly (no pun intended). So for my recent “Me Time” I made sure to grab these and some roses for my date (ahem, myself).

What My Me Time Looks Like

I’d like to show you how my typical me time looks like to hopefully inspire your own version. Since I pamper myself at home, I make sure to add fancy touches to it like scented candles and flowers – to make it feel like I’m at a spa. When I have fresh flowers like roses at home, I add petals to my bubble bath too. Add to that my favorite spa products, a magazine, hot tea and OREO THINS, and I’m good to go!

Make Your Own Me Time

These me-time moments can be different for each person, but the important factor is that you are doing something for YOU, something you LOVE. It can be catching up on some reading or watching your favorite TV shows. It can be going to the mall to go shopping or perhaps getting a massage. And of course, let’s not forget treating yourself to your favorite snack. We all need it sometimes.

Having done this for over a year now, I can attest to how it helps greatly with relieving stress, taking a breather, and recharging yourself. You can’t be your best you if you’re drained, tired, or unhappy. So give that self a much needed break and schedule a date with yourself. I know I will.

Tell me, what’s your Me Time date gonna be like? Do share in the comments below. I’d love to know and perhaps get ideas for my own me time dates in the future. Until the next post. Xo.
