Today at STYLEanthropy, we’re sharing some stylish picks inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year 2015, Marsala! Marsala is an earthy kind of wine red. If you compare it to bordeaux or other deep shades of red, this has more of a brown-ish tone to it. It’s warm and grounded and you can read more about this shade over at Pantone.com.

For a couple of years now, I’ve created our own tradition of wearing something new and wearing the color of the year during New Year’s Eve and/or New Year’s Day. This, of course, is in addition to the Philippine tradition of wearing something polka dot on New Year’s Eve. For Filipinos, the polka dot print symbolizes money (coins), to bring more fortune for the coming year. I always make sure I wear polka dots even if it’s just via a pair of socks, undies or even nail art! Let me share with you what I have planned for our New Year’s Day outfits.
Outfits from left to right: Loft Coated jeans (similar coated jeans) + H&M Polka Peplum top (my outfit #1) || Aeropostale Jeans + H&M Long Sleeved tee (husband’s outfit) || Pink Blush Faux leather skirt + Wildfox Oui sweater (my outfit #2) || Snowflake sweater (Louis’ outfit)
In case you were wondering how come I have 2 outfits, outfit #1 is the original one I have planned. However, coated jeans feels kinda cold to the skin. So in case, I’m wearing outfit #2 with some fleece-lined leggings. By the way, that coated jeans is not as bright in person and is a lighter Marsala shade. Now let’s talk about the clothes!
That H&M polka dot peplum is only $7! It’s been quite some time since I went to an H&M store. They had a huge selection of sale items for the year end and you’ll be surprised with the amazing selection. There were dresses for $5, $10, $15 and $20. I can’t wait to share with you this gem-print dress that I got for $10. The quality is really good and looked pricier than it actually was. You should check it out. The long-sleeved shirt for the Husband is also from H&M. This one wasn’t included in the sale because we had a hard time finding a close-enough Marsala shade. But even at full price, this was under $15. The shirt is more of a bordeaux or maroon shade but it will do.
For my second outfit, the faux leather skirt was sent to me by Pink Blush over the Thanksgiving Holidays. This is also more of a bordeaux color but I guess it will do. Then I got this Wildfox sweater that I am so in love with. I thought that maroon-ish letter “i” in the word OUI is the right Marsala shade! Finally, Louis is wearing his snowflake sweater again because it’s a perfect Marsala color. So, how about you? Have you picked up some pieces in Marsala? I’ve gathered some pieces in the Pantone Color of the Year 2015 for more inspiration (or shopping). 🙂
And of course, let’s not forget some makeup too!
STYLEanthropists, hope you like these picks. Always be stylish and don’t forget to rock the New Year in style!
