Today at STYLEanthropy, I’m talking about tips to help you maintain a youthful glow. Coming out of winter season, skin is trying to recover from the harsh cold and dry weather. The weird weather recently has put a toll on my skin, leaving me with dryer patches than normal. But once I follow these tips, my skin gets back to its happy, bright, and glowing state. Let me share them with you below.
Tips on How to Maintain a Youthful Glow
1. Use a Nourishing Body Milk Lotion
When my skin needs rejuvenation, I know I need a milk lotion that will help get back its vibrance. Currently, I’m using the new Le Petit Marseillais™ Shea Butter, Sweet Almond & Argan Oil Nourishing Body Milk Lotion. When you combine Shea butter, Argan oil, and milk lotion in one product, I’m all ears. It’s meant for very dry skin, but it doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky feel. Le Petit Marseillais is one of France’s biggest beauty secrets. And now it’s finally here in America! But don’t fret, their products are conveniently priced from $3.99 to $7.97.
One morning, I tested out their nourishing nutrition body lotion on one leg, leaving the other without it. The next day, I can TOTALLY SEE the difference, guys. We had a weird cold front the other day. So the leg without the lotion was quite dry and the other one that I applied the milk lotion to still looked moisturized!
Curious where to get it? This is part of the carefully-curated Walmart collection of 17 products ranging from body and hand moisturizers, to body washes, bar soaps, and liquid hand soaps. You can find it in the specialty bath and body aisle where the loofahs can be found. You can also find it at Walmart.com.
2. Use an Extra Gentle Soap or Body Wash
Be mindful of the beauty products you use. When you already have dry skin, make sure you are choosing soaps that are extra gentle. I’m loving the new Le Petit Marseillais™ Mandarin & Lime Extra Gentle Shower Gel. The mandarin and lime smell so fresh, perfect for the season! Not only is it refreshing, it’s also moisturizing! And did I tell you it’s France’s #1 body wash brand?
3. Keep a Hand Cream in Your Bag
When I go out, I make sure to keep a hand cream in my bag. Like I said, I get dry easily, not to mention I wash my hands quite too often. And when hands are dry, they are more prone to wrinkles and cuts. On the worst of days (a.k.a. when I neglect my hands or forget to put hand cream), I easily get scratched or get paper-cut! I’m not exaggerating. So if you are like me, make sure to have a hand cream in your bag to keep those hands looking youthful anytime. Currently, the Le Petit Marseillais™ Shea Butter, Sweet Almond & Argan Oil Nourishing Hand Cream is in my bag. You have to smell it! The hand cream features artful combinations of scents inspired by nature. Smelling it feels like you’re being transported to the south of France!
4. Drink Enough Glasses of Water or Liquid
I can’t say this enough but drink the recommended glasses of water, about 6 to 8 glasses a day! Keeping your skin hydrated starts from within.
5. Eat Your Fruit and Veggies
Listen to your Momma when she says eat your fruit and veggies. The powerful vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables have their respective benefits. But a lot of them are beneficial to keeping your skin bright and vibrant!
6. Wear Sunscreen
Still not wearing sunscreen? Why not? The harmful UV rays lead to premature skin aging and wrinkling (photoaging), and suppression of the immune system. So lather that sunscreen, dear. Also, use products that do double duty. I usually wear a foundation that has SPF in it. So I’m putting on makeup and protecting my face at the same time!
7. Keep Showers Warm not Hot
I’m guilty myself. I enjoy hot showers – A LOT – especially when it’s winter season. But do you know that the ideal shower temp for your skin doesn’t stray above lukewarm? That’s according to Sejal Shah, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City. There’s no absolute rule, but most doctors would recommend keeping the temperature below 110 degrees (Fahrenheit).
