Banana Republic Navy Blazer, Striped Romper

How to Dress for Chilly Spring Evenings

Today at STYLEanthropy, I wanted to share with you two outfits that would be perfect for those chilly spring evenings! Temperatures have been going up and down lately. But no matter the bipolar temps, it’s usually warmer during the day and colder at night during Spring. So as not to confuse your wardrobe, let me give you some outfit ideas to inspire your Spring dressing.

How to Dress for Chilly Spring Evenings

1. You need a Spring Jacket

You probably already did some Spring cleaning in your closet. And maybe, you already kept the Winter coats away. But even if you haven’t, winter coats are just too thick for the spring chill. Besides, haven’t you had enough with your winter coats by now? It’s time to transition to lighter layers and more spring-appropriate jackets, trenches and blazers. They will go well with Spring fashion such as pastels, florals, stripes, dresses and off-shoulder pieces.

2. Choose a Jacket or Blazer that reminds you of Spring

When I think of Spring, I’m reminded of cherry blossoms, patio weather, baseball games, bikes, picnics, boats, spring break, and music festivals to name a few. So when choosing a jacket or blazer, I tend to go for styles that translate to those. It could be a trench coat, light cardigan, linen jacket or a nautical blazer such as this one from Banana Republic. The basketweave just screams Spring, while the blue and white stripes lining, and gold buttons remind me of yachts and boats.

If you’re wondering how to dress for chilly spring evenings, this is the perfect jacket to throw on top of your spring dresses and rompers. See how I wore it here? It doesn’t look out of place, unlike if I were to wear a puffer coat on top of an obviously spring outfit. Just doesn’t make sense!

I can wear it just over my shoulders when it’s only starting to get cold.

Or put it on completely when it’s colder… or when it’s freezing in your office!

That’s also what I love about this jacket. The basketweave seems casual but the style of this blazer altogether is a perfect layer for work. It looks polished and will work well with slacks, dresses, skirts or even culottes for the office.

3. You Need a Spring Pullover

When it’s rainy and cloudy all day, a Spring sweater or pullover is a must! If you don’t like to bring a jacket with you, a spring sweater is the answer.

This is a chunky knit pullover from Banana Republic. But while it’s chunky, it’s got a slightly sheer open stitch, making it a perfect option for spring.

4. Pair Spring Sweaters with Lighter Pieces

To balance out the chunky texture of your spring sweater, try pairing it with light and airy bottoms like this pair of loose pants. Choosing a pastel color with some spring sandals will make the look even more perfect for the season.

It’s always better to get a two-fer, so when you can’t copy one style at least you have the other. Our fav is the maxi dress.
