Today at STYLEanthropy, let’s talk holiday entertaining – in style, no less! And also, I’m sharing a fancy appetizer with the help of GOODFOODS guacamole. Our little home has been clad in Holiday decor even before Halloween. What can I say? I love this time of the year because Christmas Day is MY birthday! Go figure.
Holiday Entertaining in Style
If you’re hosting parties this Holiday season, there are 4 things you need to prepare for. These are:
- A clean and inviting home (decorations optional, but would make it feel more festive)
- Your holiday outfits
Preparing Your Home
I’ve been enjoying our little apartment because of how easy and quick it is to clean up. But it sure is tricky to host more people because of the little amount of space. So if you’re in the same boat, make sure to maximize your vertical space to have more living space to entertain guests. Wall and tall shelvings save up a lot of space. Make use of multipurpose furniture. I know it’s almost impossible to have a coffee table here. So I opted for a moveable bar cart instead. At the same time, our sofas are actually sofa beds. So if we have guests coming from out of town, they have a place to sleep.
And I can’t emphasize this enough, declutter! I regularly go through our stuff, making sure I don’t accumulate much. Because when you have a lot of things laying around, it’s harder to focus, harder to find things, harder to get to things. This is hard on me too as a blogger, because you know I receive products to share and review almost everyday. But I’ve been constantly donating older, gently loved items to Goodwill, giving away our extras to family and friends, and some go to my Poshmark closet for sale. I advice you to do the same. There was a time when I hold material things so dear because of the memories and stories behind each. But remember, you’ll have that memory to hold on to in your heart forever. But those material things will wither and fade.
As you can see, I had to put up our Christmas tree on an end table just to work with the space we have.
Of course, you’re the host, so dress up and look presentable! Fancy, even. After all, it’s the Holiday Season. I’ve started sharing Holiday Outfits for the season. So make sure to check those for inspiration. And stay tuned because I have more on the way!
What’s a party without the drinks (aka booze). Haha! But seriously, aside from the water, soda, juice, iced tea, beer, coffee, or tea that you’re serving, don’t forget the fancy drinks. Like I said, it’s the Holiday season, so UP that hosting game. I have a super easy cocktail recipe you can create this Holiday season, and I promise, they are yummy! Recipe here.
Of course, the main event at any Holiday party is the FOOD! Who’s serving turkey, ham, roast beef, or pork? How about steak? Pasta? Lamb chops? Yes, all that yummy holiday food goodness are gonna be delicious! But don’t forget the sides, desserts, and the appetizers too! I thought I’d share this super easy appetizer that you can prepare the night before, and enjoy while the turkey cooks in the oven and you mingle with your guests.
Guacamole Deviled Eggs
Like I mentioned previously, I love guacamole. I love it in my tacos and burritos. I love it with my chips and queso. But today, we’re using GOODFOODS guacamole for deviled eggs, which is another fave appetizer of mine. This is super easy to do because you can boil the eggs the night before, and just do the mixing a few minutes before the guests arrive. PLUS, they look fancy for something so easy to make.
- 5 Boiled Eggs
- ½ cup GOODFOODS Guacamole variety of your choice, I used the spicy version
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Dash of Cayenne or Chili Pepper
- Bacon Bits for topping
- Boil the eggs, remove the shell, and cut in half.
- Scoop out the yolks into a mixing bowl.
- Set aside the white part and arrange on a serving plate.
- Mash the yolks and add in the guacamole.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Put the egg mixture in a ziplock bag and snip the end of the bag to dispense the mixture easily unto the egg white. You can also just use a teaspoon to fill the egg whites.
- Season with cayenne or chili pepper.
- Sprinkle bacon bits on top and serve!
