Today at STYLEanthropy, I’m sharing a festival season outfit. After all, music festivals are right around the corner. With Coachella 2016 starting this Friday and other music festivals (big and small) to follow, have you thought about what to wear yet? Here’s a super easy one that’s comfy, airy, stylish and currently on SALE! Check below for some festival look inspo.
Festival Season Outfit Tips and Ideas
Festival season calls for stylish pieces that are also comfy and practical enough for you to lay on the grass, sing and dance, ride bump cars and the Ferris Wheel, hang by the pool and other outdoor activities that you may bump into at a festival. Some style ideas for this year’s festival season are as follows:
- Off-shoulder neckline
- Bell sleeves
- Lace details
- Boho style pieces
- Flowy dresses
- Military green/olive green color
- Floral print
- Easy to wear romper (rompers are fun, just opt for something you can easily get in and out off for bathroom breaks)
- Crochet details
- Braided details
- Layering piece (a light jacket or pullover will come in handy for chilly nights)
- Mini backpacks or cross-body bags (something small that you can carry all day long)
- Espadrilles, sneakers, booties (closed shoes will keep your toes protected)
A lot of these styles or pieces are the usual festival picks… fringe, tassels, Boho – the usual. And since off the shoulder or cold shoulder style is pretty hot right now, I’ve added it to this year’s festival season outfit ideas along with bell sleeves too.
Some of my picks, on the other hand, are for practicality’s sake. I always recommend going for closed shoes – be it espadrilles, sneakers or booties – as much as possible. They will keep your toes protected from dust, pebbles, soil, or mud, depending on the venue of the festival. It doesn’t look cute when dirt is between your nails and toes, even if you had a fresh pedi before the event! At the same time, you wouldn’t want to be wearing open toe sandals if you wanna go near the stage to watch the band playing. With huge crowds, someone can easily step on your toes. Of course it’s a different story if you’ll be lounging at the VIP tent.
As for the bag, keep it small and light. Backpacks and cross body bags are great because you’ll have both of your hands free. So you can probably use one for a drink, the other for your phone (so you can document your most epic spring/summer soiree)!
This Day & Mood Fleur backpack, to me, is the perfect bag to accompany a festival season outfit. I love the minimalistic design, but at the same time it’s got fun little details that make it extraordinary. Take for example that braided zipper detail – I love that! It gives it that Coachella-ready feel! The zippers on each side of the bag allows for adjusting the capacity of the bag, but also gives it that cool factor!
I also love the pocket/pouch on the flap of the back pack. It makes room for items I may need to access quickly: tissue, gum/mints, lip balm, hand gel, etc. Plus points for a buttery soft feel on the leather of this bag. LOVE IT! This bag also comes in a gorgeous camel color and you can get it at Nordstrom! Yay for free shipping!
Thanks to Day & Mood for my new fave back pack!
When it comes to jewelry, I like to keep it simple at festivals. It can be hot during the day and I hate the sticky feeling of a million bangles on my arms. One bangle that packs a punch and a statement necklace (tassels, obvi) are all that I need.
Okay, so let’s talk about this romper! One of my favorite styles this season: off shoulder – CHECK! Lace details – CHECK! Romper that’s easy to get in and out off for bathroom breaks – CHECK! Super soft, light and airy – CHECK! Pockets – CHECK! Flattering/hides unwanted – CHECK! Affordable – CHECK! It’s currently on sale for $10.50! You can also spruce it up by cinching a belt!
UPDATE: it has freakin’ sold out!!! ACK!!! I wish you bought it when I told you to. Hopefully they restock it soon. But fret not, I found similar pieces here, here, here, here and here with a bit of florals.
Hope you like this festival season outfit inspo. Let me know what other styles you’d like me to talk about or feature next! Thanks for stopping by STYLEanthopy, folks! Xo, C.
