Today at STYLEanthropy, let’s talk about feeling cooler in cotton fabric. During the hot summer season, I try to wear as much cotton fabric as much as possible. It’s breathable, lightweight, and does not retain odor. Have you smelled something weird from other certain fabrics when exposed to the heat of the sun? So I highly suggest wearing cotton fabric during the hottest season of the year!
One of my favorite trends (if it’s not already obvious), is the off shoulder neckline. Be it an off shoulder top or a dress – it’s my go-to this summer! I was so happy to have found this off shoulder dress in 100% cotton. And guess what? It was under 30 bucks and it comes in a wide array of colors too. There’s black, red, and tangerine among other printed ones as well. SCORE!
Even in extreme temps, this dress made me feel cooler, thanks to the style and the material. Can you tell I was happy (and bold enough to wear pineapple sunglasses) even in hot temperatures?
When you’re looking for cotton, blends are definitely okay. Just make sure to check the label. Look for 60% cotton or higher for all apparel, and 90% or higher for denim, to keep cool this season.
Cooler In Cotton
I’ve listed more benefits of wearing cotton fabric below, aside from breathability, lightweight material, and not retaining any odor.
- I prefer cotton because it’s not itchy on the skin. Having dry skin, I sometimes get rashes from mystery synthetic fabrics.
- If you have any skin issues, you’ve probably been told to wear more cotton fabrics because cotton is a natural fiber.
- I love that most cotton doesn’t need to be dry cleaned. So I can easily wash it at home without the added dry cleaners expense.
- Cotton’s durability keeps your clothes looking good longer. So you can wear your favorite clothing over and over again.
