Beauty Tips to Get Ready for Holiday Pictures
I love getting ready and doing a makeup look for holiday get-togethers, with my family and friends. I have a few favorite makeup looks, which I love for the holidays. Whatever I choose, I use the ones that enhance my skin and appearance in pictures. With a background in makeup and photography, I want to share a few tips that will help you achieve a picture-perfect look for the holidays!
1. Less Is More
It is true that less makeup is more. I like to make sure that my face still looks like natural skin in photos and to do this, I avoid heavy foundation that could make my face look like a mask. I like to use a foundation (without SPF to avoid a white-ish skin appearance in photos with flash) with a natural finish and good coverage. If you just need to conceal some dark spots or uneven skin, good concealer is a good, easy tool!
2. Defined Brows
I often share in my makeup posts, that brows are so important in doing makeup. If you already have a good brow shape, good for you, embrace that! If not, you can use an eyebrow pencil to define the brows. It will give you precision in filling up your brows. I like to go two shades lighter than my natural hair color, and try not to go too dark, so it doesn’t look harsh in photos.
3. Matte Bronzer
This is one of the secrets to make your face look gorgeous on camera, and keep your skin from looking flat. There are different types of bronzer, but I like to choose a natural matte finish powder to add a natural glow and bring my skin to life!
4. Defined Eyes
Whatever you plan to do for your eye makeup look, a defined lash line using eyeliner (whether it is liquid, gel, or pencil) and mascara will help to have a gorgeous look on camera. To get a flawless application of mascara, soak your mascara in a cup of hot water for a few minutes. This will thin out the formula making it easier to apply.
5. Lip Color
Most women love wearing lip color, especially for the holidays. Use a matte, sheer, or lip gloss, but be sure you exfoliate your lips to remove flakes. Your lip product will stay on longer and have a smooth look in pictures. I love to use long wearing lip products that keep my lips smooth, like this lipstick sheer from Beautycounter.
Lastly, the most important tool to have is a great smile! Enjoy this season with your loved ones. 🙂
