Today at STYLEanthropy, I wanted to share with you the Adam Lippes for Target collaboration. You’ve probably already seen the collection at Target stores or online. In fact, you may have already gotten your hands on one, two or more of his pieces. I admit I was totally clueless running into Target one day. You may have noticed the lack of posts here recently and that’s because I’ve been busy and at the same time, feeling under the weather. But anyway, this collab totally sneaked up on me. I got lucky I was running errands at Target the same day it came out.

See how cute his items are? I fell in love when I saw them at Target. If you follow me on Snapchat (username styleanthropy), then you’ve seen me snap about my trip there. I also snapped trying it on in the dressing room. The collection not only features women’s clothes but also men’s, plus sizes, and even home accessories. While I wasn’t familiar with the designer’s name at the time, I was attracted to his collection. I probably spent an hour contemplating on this beautiful bag. I SUPER want it but wasn’t in my budget. Any sponsors? Haha.
While I liked what I saw at the store, I actually held off on buying. Why? Since I hadn’t known about the collab coming out, I thought maybe other customers didn’t hear about it too. I thought if others didn’t know about it, then there’s a chance there will be left over pieces, and that they will go on sale in a couple of days. I may splurge on accessories like purses and shoes, but when shopping for clothes, I usually wait ’til they go on sale. I am frugal, I swear.
Still, I told myself that on my next trip to Target, if they seem to be selling fast, I’ll grab what I want before it’s too late. Low and behold, on my next visit, there were only 2 pieces of this shirt dress left – a small and a large. You bet I grabbed and held onto it like someone was after my most-prized possession. LOL!
Like I said earlier, I was totally clueless at the time, not knowing who the designer was. So I thought some… or a lot of you may be clueless too. I did my research and found out he began his fashion career at Polo Ralph Lauren back in 1995. He moved to Oscar de la Renta and was quickly promoted to Global Creative Director. So, wow! No wonder his pieces are gorgeous. But he didn’t stop from there. In 2004, he created his own collection of cotton basics under the label ADAM + EVE. So he is the Adam from that brand. I’ve known ADAM + EVE but didn’t know the last name of the designer behind.
The label evolved to include wider collections and was renamed ADAM. I actually check his pieces from time to time and like the contemporary aesthetic. I just couldn’t afford it. Thank goodness he released a collection with Target that I can actually afford. How gorgeous is this shirt dress, people? I wanna wear it every week or more often than that! The other day, I was on a sidewalk by a restaurant, and a lady biking on the trail shouted, “I love your dress”.
Black and white… the grid print… the shape… the button detail… I love it!
