Today at STYLEanthropy, I’m sharing a new three favorite things Thursday post. But for this one, they’re all connected because they are all part of my fashion emergency kit when traveling. Or if I’m going somewhere for the whole day and I know I need to be well-dressed and looking presentable (think fashion conference, fashion week, etc.), I’ll make sure I have a fashion emergency kit handy. Read on to find out what I take with me.
3 Fave Things Thursday: Fashion Emergency Kit
1. Dryel On-The-Go Stain Remover
If you’re wearing white or something light-colored, and you know there will be eating and drinking involved, it’s wise to carry a stain remover pen in your bag. In this case, I have it with me in a fashion emergency kit. You can just use any small makeup pouch and put your fashion emergency tools in the pouch. I use the Dryel on-the-go stain remover because studies show that it’s more effective than the leading brand. Whether it’s spaghetti sauce, soy sauce, makeup, coffee, or chocolate, this newly updated Dryel stain remover pen can work wonders at hiding the stain! It’s now available at www.hsn.com and will be coming to retail stores soon. The 4-pack is only $10. So put one in your everyday bag, one in the car, one in your fashion emergency kit, and you’ll have another spare to keep.
Full disclosure: Thanks to Dryel for sending me this!
2. Tape with Dispenser
I found this super cute donut tape dispenser with clear tape inside. Guess where I found it? At TARGET!!! How cute, right? I like that the tape and cutter is hidden. So you can put this in your fashion emergency kit pouch or bag without it sticking or scratching anything. Now you’re probably wondering what the tape is for? Well, I prefer to bring this than a lint remover when out and about. It’s more discreet and smaller to bring or carry. Plus, I can cut a small piece of tape if I’m only using it in a small section of fabric. As an alternative to heavier and rougher or tougher fabrics, I use a small brush (see the photo above or below). Just brush it on the fabric and it will remove lint and pilling on the fabric.
3. Wardrobe Tape and Strips
Wardrobe malfunction be gone with wardrobe tape and strips. It’s easier to bring than a sewing kit. Because when you have a fashion emergency, would you have the time to sew rather than just tape it and be over and done with in seconds? Plus, it’s just a tiny tin container just like a tin of mints. So it’s pretty convenient to slip in your bag or pouch. You can find these Scotch Essentials wardrobe tape near the sewing machine area at most retailers like Target.
When it comes to stockings or tights running, I use a hairspray to stop the run. So I take a travel-sized hairspray like the one below if and when I wear stockings or tights. While wearing the tights, if you see a tiny hole or snag, spray this right away to help secure the hole. So it won’t get any bigger while you’re out wearing it.
How about you? Do you bring a fashion emergency kit when you’re traveling? What’s in your kit? Do share! I’d love to hear more tips and hacks to solve fashion emergencies while on the go!
